The voice in the wilderness crying out against ROTC at the curriculum committee level was joined by a full chorus at this months Literature, Science and Arts faculty meeting. The motion to approve college credit for the military courses went down to overwhelming defeat.
While President Robben Fleming had urged the faculty to decide the question on academic merit, most debate centered on the issue of military presence on campus. With more conservative faculty still insisting the only relevant criterion is academic, the question may yet arise in the future.
