Description

Shelley Ferguson of Project Grow will use container gardening as a way to highlight basic gardening principles. Whether you are brand new to gardening or just want to up your container game, this session will walk you through the fundamentals — healthy soil, room for roots, and keeping care requirements in mind. Have a specific garden or plant-related question? There will be time to jot down your questions to submit to Ferguson directly before the talk so that she can touch on the problems and queries that pique the audience's interest.

This event is part of the Gardening & DIY Fest from 12:30-5:30:

The Gardening and DIY Fest is an all-day celebration of gardening, nature and the DIY spirit! Learn gardening basics including composting, vermiculture and how to keep backyard bees, chickens and goats!

- Talk to representatives from area organizations like Matthaei Botanical Gardens, Michigan Folks School, Project Grow, and more!

- Get hands-on and learn how to can veggies, make your own laundry cleaner, mend your own clothing, and grow mushrooms at home!

- Shop local from a variety of artisans and vendors selling upcycled/recycled homemade wares including jewelry, clothes, bath products, artwork, and fibers, as well as plants and seeds!
