Sex. Age Issues Key HRP Concerns

Efforts to end sex and age discrimination have been adopted as key components of the Human Rights Party platform for the upcoming Ann Arbor general election.

Although work on the platform is still incomplete, party members have called for an end to all discrimination against male and female homosexuals, and for an end to discrimination based on sexual status, such as married or single. The platform plank calls on everyone to examine their own sexuality and “ac-

knowledge and develop their own lesbianism and male sexuality.”

The plank regarding age discrimination includes a call to eliminate the ‘‘age of majority” law, which considers 18-year olds as adults, so young people can be given more legal rights and responsibilities.

The HRP platform also seeks to establish “self determination” for senior citizens. The party is asking for all city commissions and boards to have representatives from both the young and old.

Under consumerism, the HRP is suggesting the city establish grocery cooperatives so food can be purchased at lower than grocery store prices.
